Explore the Southern Costa Blanca

Los Dolses

Mid-way between Villamartin and La Zenia is the beautiful area of Los Dolses in Orihuela Costa. Centrally located, Los Dolses is ideally situated within just a few minutes of the beautiful Costa Blanca beaches, yet central to both the extensive shopping and leisure facilities of La Zenia (including the famous La Zenia Boulevard) and the buzzing atmosphere and busy entertainment hub of Villamartin.

How to get there

Easily accessible and well served by flights from all of the major European airports, travelling down from Alicante airport takes only 45 minutes, whilst the new Corvera International Airport in Murcia is even closer at only 40 minutes drive from the centre of Orihuela Costa.  And with UK flights starting from less than a tenner each way, a long weekend in the sun is often cheaper than catching a taxi into your local town centre.

Things to do

For the more active visitor, three of the local golf courses are all within a kilometre – Golf de Campoamor, Villamartin Golf and Las Ramblas – and offer a wonderful test for golfers of all abilities.  Six kilometres of cycle tracks connect the area with the beachfront promenade, offering a guilt free way to explore the Mediterranean coastline…and the bars along the way! Local entertainment can primarily be found in the vicinity of the two commercial centres – the self-named ‘Los Dolses’ and the ‘Rioja’ where there are plentiful cafés, bars and restaurants catering for every taste and palate.

Weather

Blessed with a climate that the World Health Organisation declare to be one of the very healthiest in the world, the area is noted as having ‘as near perfect an environment as it is possible to obtain’ – high praise indeed!  Year-round sunshine and low humidity are a perfect combination and with the Costa Blanca enjoying an average annual temperature of 19o, highs of 40o+ and more than 3000 hours of sunshine over 320+ days, few other regions can compete.  Water temperatures average 25o even in the autumn meaning you can take a dip in the Med well into late October whilst daytime temperatures often still reach well into the 20’s throughout December making this the perfect spot to escape the British winter!

Property in Los Dolses

Aesthetically, the established property development in the area is more traditional in style with a Mediterranean look and feel, comprising a well-balanced mix of large detached villas, characterful townhouses and spacious apartments.

That said, over the last few years a collection of beautiful new-build developments have sprung up in the area, adding a new vibrancy and contemporary feel, contrasting and complementing the existing residential urbanisations.  These new-build developments range from apartment complexes boasting indoor and outdoor heated pools, gymnasiums and large landscaped gardens with sports areas, modern townhouses often benefitting from large underbuilds and private solariums to exclusive detached and semi-detached villas, many of which come with private pools.  The area is home to a largely ex-pat community and often attracts a more upmarket clientele with a luxury property waiting for almost every budget.
